Theseries wasdesigned for precise and accurate retrieval of the information in the record groove.Ortofon hasoptimized the design for ease of mounting the cartridge, with a weight and size to fit the most common turntablesonthe market today.They usediamondsthatare polished to the highest standards in the industry.

To obtain a flat frequency response, Ortofon usesslit pole pins to reduce eddy currents. Slit pole pinsare an Ortofon invention first usedin the 500 and Super OM series. 2M Red and 2M Blue both have the same engine, which allows for an increased outputof 5.5 mV.

The cartridge bodyof the2M Bronze and 2M Black is manufactured from a newly-developed Noryl plastic/glass combination, a revolutionary materialthatensures high rigidity while eliminating unwanted resonances. These models use a special upgraded engine, featuring split pole pins with silver-plated copper wire.

The 2M Bronze features a nude fine line diamond stylus, which is particularly suited for extracting detail without causing undue record wear.
