The Master Innovation Wood uses a state-of-the-art, no-contact drive system, derived from Clearaudios no-compromise flagship Statement turntable. In its top configuration, that Clearaudio refers to, tongue in cheek, as the Understatement, itis a massive ultra-high-end beast withthe TT1-M1 tangential arm, Olympus stand, and Goldfinger Statement cartridge.
The Master Innovations magnetic drive system is designed to totally isolate the stylus in the groove with its no-contact, multiple platter drive system. The lowest platter is the drive, which is belt-driven by alow-noise, high-torquethree-speed DC motor that’s cleverly integrated into the leg of the table. The motor iscontrolled by Clearaudios Optical Speed Control (OSC) technology, which is a microscopic reflective strobe and infrared sensor that ensures incredible speed accuracy.
The Driveplatter ismagnetically coupled to the upper Driven platter using two rings of magnets, one in the top of the Drive platter and the other in the bottom of the Driven platter. There is no physical contact between the platters, allowing for exceptional vibration isolation.
The third platter is the Main one, a dynamically balanced, precision-machined combination of a 70 mm high-density polymer and 15 mm stainless steel flywheel. It is connected to the Driven platter by a special diamond-coated version of Clearaudios patented Ceramic Magnetic Bearing (CMB). The entire Main platter/Driven platter assembly floats on air just above the lower Drive platter with no point of load to wear or generate friction and noise.
In addition tothis isolatedand frictionless drive, this system gives the Master Innovation Wood twice the flywheel mass of the renowned Clearaudio Innovation Wood turntable.
Holding up these platter, the chassis super structure consists offourtri-star plinthsmade froma solid panzerholz (bulletproof wood) and aluminum sandwich construction with resonance-damping materials. Many finishes and combinations are available. For example, choose from silver or black anodized aluminum parts with either clear lacquer panzerholz or piano black lacquer. Special white and red lacquer finishes are available. Choose a matching color scheme for the TT1-MI tonearm and Olympus stand.
The Master Innovation can accommodate up to three pivoted tonearms, but more importantly, can take Clearaudio’s ultimate TT1-MI linear tracker. If you have the Innovation Wood, contact us about upgradingto theMaster Innovation Wood at home!
