D stands for discreet all models are designed as installation speakers for discreet in-wall or in-ceiling integration, featuring a wall-fixing mechanism with mounting legs. All models also come with their own loudspeaker enclosure, making system planning and the actual installation as easy as possible, with no after-market backbox or closed wall cavity required. This also ensures that the sound performance is always defined and consistent, depending less on the wall construction and the available space behind the wall.
The D-60 C has been designed as a high-performance in-wall speaker to complement the D-60 for front and surround channels as a center channel, or as a high-performance solution for all front channels. It offers the Discreet series highest power handling, sensitivity, and maximum sound pressure level. The D-60 C covers frequencies from 22 kHz down to 80 Hz (-3dB) and is intended to be used with additional woofers for the LFE and bass, for example the Lyngdorf BW-20 or DW-1. To achieve the ideal sound radiation from a center speaker and the best overall sound performance, the D-60 C is designed with a dedicated midrange driver just below the tweeter and two additional woofers. The midrange/tweeter section and the woofers are driven by individual amplifiers in a bi-amping design with active crossover.
The D-60 C is equipped with a more powerful soft dome tweeter compared to the D-500 Center, featuring a much stronger magnet. The highly efficient midrange driver is equipped with a powerful neodymium magnet, while the two woofers incorporate aluminum cones, very powerful vented magnets, and an inverted surround to allow a flat speaker front and space-saving cabinet depth. With the D-60 C, one no longer has to choose between high-performance and a discreet physical presence.
The D-60 C features upgraded soft dome tweeter and midrange drivers with stronger magnets than the D-500 Center, plus dual woofers with vented magnets and die-cast baskets for improved airflow. Its inverted surround keeps the front flat and cabinet depth minimal. A bi-amping active crossover drives the tweeter/midrange and woofers separately for optimal clarity and balance. When paired with a Lyngdorf MP processor, digital crossovers handle the midrange-to-woofer transition, ensuring precise sound dispersion and eliminating phase and frequency irregularities common in typical center speakers.
The D-60 C comes with its own pre-mounted loudspeaker enclosure, so that no after-market backbox or closed wall cavity is required. This ensures that the sound performance is always defined and consistent, depending less on the wall construction and the available space behind the wall. The enclosure is made from high quality mdf, increasing rigidity and preventing material resonance.
The woofers, midrange drivers and tweeters are based on the known drive-units used in Lyngdorf loudspeakers customized for each model, featuring soft-dome tweeters, light aluminum cones, vented magnets, and die-cast baskets.
