Hand-assembled with over 100 precision CNC-machined parts, it features a 12-inch S-shaped aluminum tonearm with a 3-point pivot bearing system for enhanced stability and tracking accuracy. Its aluminum platter, magnetically decoupled and TPE-damped, ensures ultra-silent operation, while the flywheel belt-drive system provides consistent speed control at 33 and 45 RPM. Designed with audiophiles in mind, the Signature 12.2 includes a True Balanced Connection via a 5-pin DIN output, offering pristine audio quality when paired with compatible phono preamps.
The Signature 12.2 showcases Pro-Jects highest level of build quality. Hand-assembled by their most skilled technicians, over 100 CNC-machined partsmany hand-polishedcome together in a massive MDF plinth, finished in 10 layers of piano-black lacquer. Its larger chassis with rounded corners reduces standing wave reflections, while resonant cavities have been eliminated to preserve sonic integrity.
Speed stability begins with material and design excellence. The precision-balanced, high-mass aluminum platter is damped with TPE and topped with a vinyl layer for ideal coupling with the record puck. It rotates on an inverted ceramic bearing with magnetic support, ensuring friction-free motion and minimal resonance.
The new 12″ S-shaped aluminum tonearm introduces improvements to both the counterweight and anti-skating mechanisms. A fine-threaded counterweight enables precise tracking force adjustments, while Pro-Jects adaptive anti-skating system adjusts dynamically as the tonearm moves across the record. VTA can be fine-tuned on the fly via a set screw.
A major innovation is the switch from uni-pivot to a 3-point pivot tonearm bearing. This configuration delivers enhanced stability, lower friction, and better handling of high-mass MC cartridges. Designed to outperform traditional uni-pivot and cardanic systems, it enables superior groove tracking and micro-detail retrieval.
The Signature 12.2 integrates a TPE-isolated aluminum sub-chassis for enhanced tonearm and platter decoupling. The updated spring-loaded feet are designed for the turntables increased mass, effectively draining vibrations through conical tips while offering easy leveling from the top of the plinth.
Driven by a DC-powered AC generator, the new motor system features a flywheel belt drive for stable, vibration-free operation. The motor block is now made entirely from polished aluminum for improved isolation and aesthetics. A simplified, display-free control panel reinforces Pro-Jects commitment to analog purity.
The rear-mounted 5-pin DIN output supports true balanced signal transmission for cleaner, noise-free playback. Pro-Ject includes the Connect it Phono DS 5P > RCA cable, featuring high-purity OFC conductors and silver-plated connectors to ensure optimal signal integrity.
