The platter sits on a ceramic-tipped bearing and the load on the point is reduced using aneodymium magnet, resulting in extremely low friction and world-class speed stability.
The X8 has inherited the massive MDF chassis and the top-of-the-line Pro-Ject 9cc EVO carbon tonearm from its larger siblings. Theheight-adjustablefeet are from machined aluminum, andtheir TPE damping technology effectively decouples the X8.
The X8 is the first of Pro-Ject’s True Balanced Connection components. A balanced connection from turntable to phonostage helps to drastically reduce induced noise fromWi-Fi and phone networks, preventing it from becoming a part of the amplified signal. Note that the stock X8 comes with a semi-balanced connector, (five-pin to RCA), but a separatelypurchased five-pin to XLR will let you connect to balanced phonostages. Thiswill give youbetter dynamics, less noise, andfar greater signal-to-noise ratios.
