The Pro-Ject Xtension 9 Evolution is a high-end turntable built for exceptional sound and mechanical precision. Its dense MDF chassis, filled with steel pellets, and magnetic isolation feet combine mass-loading and suspension for superior vibration control. A custom alloy platter with TPE damping and a vinyl top layer ensures optimal record coupling, while the magnetically supported ceramic bearing delivers ultra-silent, low-friction rotation.
Speed stability is maintained through high-precision, quartz-generated electronic regulation powered by Speed Box technology. A microprocessor generates a pristine AC signal, which is sent directly to the built-in synchronous motor, isolated from power supply fluctuations. The result is smooth, consistent operation with push-button speed selection between 33 and 45 rpm.
In line with Pro-Jects highest-performance modelsincluding the RPM 9/10 Carbon, Xtension 9/10/12 Evolution, and Signature 10/12the Xtension 9 features a plinth engineered to neutralize resonance at the source. A central gravity point filled with steel pellets draws vibrations away from the tonearm and cartridge, virtually eliminating the chance of resonance contamination. Pellets are preferred over solid alloys for their superior dispersion characteristics, and their use significantly increases massa critical factor in enhancing sonic performance.
What truly sets Pro-Ject apart is its commitment to balanced signal transmission. While balanced audio has long been the gold standard in professional applications, Pro-Ject brings this technology to high-end vinyl playbackaffordably. To achieve true balanced performance, youll need a moving coil cartridge, a turntable with balanced outputs, a phono preamp with balanced inputs, and a balanced phono cable. Pro-Jects system design makes this once-premium feature widely accessible.
Xtension 9 Evolution is equipped with a 5-pin DIN balanced output and can be connected via DIN to XLR or DIN to mini XLR cables to a balanced phono stage. For maximum out-of-box compatibility, it includes a DIN to RCA cable supporting standard unbalanced connections (still the most common in phono setups). Balanced accessories are available separately for those ready to take the next step.
